On 12th June six local people opened their gardens to members of the public to help raise funds for the Tower & Spire Appeal. After weeks of hard work we were blessed with a beautiful day for the event which was a first for Yardley.
The weather had not been kind to us when we were preparing - a very late, cold winter, no rain when we needed it most and then just when we thought everything was ready a week of rain which made all the weeds come back with a vengeance. All that was put behind us when we entertained a steady stream of visitors. Some came to a few gardens, some to all, lots came for the cream teas sold in the Trust School.
There were plants and home made jam for sale as well as notebooks, bookmarks and framed photos. In total we raised over £1250 for the Spire and everyone felt all the hard work had been worth it.
And YES we are hoping to repeat the event but not until 2012.
